me and kuks

warning: slighty gross blog post :-P

i injured one of my toes during a badminton game last june. it was either my shoes were not properly fit or my socks were too thick. so as result, my right index toe (hehe, the one next to the hallux (yes, i got it from wikipedia) or big toe) had a "patay na kuko" (dead toenail). (From hereon, my patay na kuko will be referred to as, "kuks" =)))

last night, while doing some yoga pose with my wii fit, i noticed the weird looks of kuks. aside from its discoloration, it was sort of loose. so i checked the internet for some remedies and i found out that i should pull it off so that the new nail can grow properly. :-S but another suggestion was just leave it as it is and it will come off eventually. so i thought, maybe the 2nd suggestion is better (and less painful!)

but curiosity hit me and so equipped with a nailcutter, i explored kuks :-P (besides, i want a new nail in time for december... parties, wedding and dates! =))) i found out the i can easily pull it off since it's already dead. when i was about to pull it, i noticed the other side was still attached to the skin (ingrown!). yikes! for a minute or two, i decided to just go for the 2nd suggestion. but as i look at kuks, it was really an eyesore :-P so i researched about ingrown and kuks' case was not that bad since the attachment was shallow. so using the nailcutter's file, i removed the excess skin. to my surprise, it was not painful! so after detaching kuks from the skin... with one quick pull... twik! (i suppose that was the sound i heard when i pulled it...)

...let's pause for a moment for kuks...

anyway, it was a "bloodless-mini-toe-operation". :-P no pain at all... and surprisingly, the new nail is starting to grow :-D yehey!

p.s. since i was too curious, after the toe operation, i accidentally chipped off a skin and blood started to come out... and now my toe is covered with band aid and it hurts :-P
