nanay and i were not that really close when i was still a student... i admit i am a papa's girl... but things changed between us when i started working, i can't remember how or when... but maybe because i opened up to her and she did the same too. i've realized we have a lot in common too hehe... like being a crybaby over some telenovela (mababaw ang luha :-P)... but the best trait na "namana" ko from her is her strong personality. not the masungit type, but the "toughie" woman character.
last march, nanay broke her right knee and had to go to surgery. that's the time i saw how tough she is. you see, she and ate met an accident 30+ years ago, so her left knee was inquired and cannot be bent. and last march, her good knee cracked when she had a bad fall inside the church. imagine that, two bad knees at the age of 64. i saw her cried, saw her being upset on what happened to her, saw her almost giving up on life... but she didn't... she fought back. that's the time i saw how tough she is, that after her surgery, a big smile on her face was the first thing i saw from her. for a week i stayed with her in the hospital, we exchanged stories, tsismis and she even helped me review for my nihongo lessons. after work, i would text her to ask if she wanted anything other than the hospital food for dinner, and she would reply with her order plus "thanks and love u anak" :-)
before i left for intra, she talked to me. "paano na pag tinotopak si tatay, wala akong makakausap dito sa bahay?" hehehe... so i always make it a point every friday and saturday night i talk to her thru ym... kahit about pinoy big brother celebrity edition 2 eh pinag-uusapan namin :-P
i miss my toughie nanay. with 2 bad knees, she's still up and running hehehe... taking care of tatay and ate at home, plus, an avon lady (yeah, that's right, she's top 13 seller of her batch :-P), astig di ba?! :-P
